Well I can’t tell you about the experience on the ipad pro as I only use the regular one, but I think for notetaking its not really about the ipad you’re using, more about the app that u chooseĪs a side note, if you’re using the ipad for drawing arts/illustrations using procreate, then ipad pro is better imo (higher layer limit, more RAM,etc). In Notability's Settings, go to 'Handwriting' and toggle 'Tap and hold. Notes are no longer just notes when you can add different. If 'Zoom' is enabled, try turning it off. Notability is widely regarded as one of the best note-taking apps for iPad, thanks to a simple interface matched by powerful capability. In your iPad's Settings, go to 'General > Accessibility'. I had both GN and Notability but prefer notability more because of its smoothness (especially writing, no lag at all). if you’re gonna buy the ipad 10.2 then it should be no problem as the RAM is bigger. I think it is because of the less RAM that my ipad has. except when using affinity it did crash (app force close) but very rare. despite all the heavy apps that I had installed on this ipad (affinity designer, procreate, lumafusion, etc) I never experienced a lag/freeze. Happy to report that GoodNotes 5 works fine for this purpose Used a cheap 1.50 stylus so the handwriting isnt great but I suspect a nicer fine tip stylus would make it slightly easier. I've used a 6th gen (practically the same device) and a 1st gen pencil for school for about 18 months now and had very few problems. The best app for writing notes by hand on the iPad is GoodNotes because of its great UI, great Pencil support and writing feel, and search features. I posted a question recently asking about an iPad Mini 2 that I wanted to convert into a digital notebook. best value & supports the 1st gen pencil. If you'd like a recommendation on which iPad to get, I'd go for the 7th gen (10.2-inch). ![]() the app is exactly the same for any iPad, it just differs on iPhones and on Mac the thing is, you'll want to chose an iPad that supports Apple Pencil (assuming you're looking to use a stylus with Notability - which isn't a requirement).
